Gönül`s Paws

News April 2026 There are currently several new cases causing concern at Gönül’s Paws. One of Karamel’s kittens was attacked by a male cat and urgently needs help. In addition, Fıstık is currently being treated for a liver condition. The situation around Melek is especially distressing: her condition has not improved, and after the latest examinations, the diagnosis is unfortunately FIP. There is also serious concern for Nazlı. She is due to be examined next, but there is already strong worry that she may also be suffering from FIP. If this is confirmed, it would be an enormous challenge, as caring for two FIP cases at the same time is extremely difficult. Gönül is continuing to do everything she can to help these cats and provide them with the treatment and care they urgently need.

The Rescuer:

“For the past seven years, I have volunteered on the streets of Istanbul to help stray animals. I regularly feed them, arrange for neutering, and provide medical care. Thanks to the support of many kind people, I have been able to rescue and improve the lives of dozens of animals.

In my profile picture, you can see Kulaksiz, a cat I rescued from the streets. She had lost one ear due to cruelty and was later diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Despite everything she endured, Kulaksiz learned to trust again, fought bravely against FIP, and was cared for and deeply loved for several more years. Unfortunately, she passed away at the beginning of 2026.

Her story remains a symbol of why this work matters so much to me. I continue to dedicate myself especially to cats who have suffered cruelty, as well as to vulnerable stray cats in urgent need of help.
