Honey Meral Animal Rescue
News June 2026
Meral is currently facing another heartbreaking and costly medical case.
One of the cats in her care was born with severe congenital abnormalities that block the passages connecting the nose and throat. Meral met this cat while it was staying at a veterinary clinic. The cat was scheduled to be sent to a shelter, but Meral decided to take responsibility and give it a chance at life.
The treatment is extremely complex. The cat will need a total of six surgeries, and the third operation is now approaching. Each surgery costs approximately 48,000 TL. In addition to the surgeries, the cat is also undergoing chemotherapy treatment, creating an enormous financial burden.
At the same time, Meral has been struggling with repeated problems on her social media accounts. For nearly a month, her account was repeatedly closed and reopened, making it difficult to share updates and raise support for the animals. After weeks of difficulties, she finally had to submit identification documents to regain access.
Between ongoing veterinary bills, surgeries, chemotherapy, food, and daily care for the animals, the situation has become overwhelming. Every donation helps Meral continue providing lifesaving treatment and care for the cats who have nowhere else to turn.
Meral and her daughter have dedicated their lives to rescuing stray cats in the streets of Istanbul. In addition to their normal work-life, they feed, care for, and provide vital medical treatment to animals in need every day. Sick cats are taken to the clinic, and all are neutered to help reduce the suffering of future generations.
Â
Their tireless efforts have already saved hundreds of cats. Among them were 18 diagnosed with FIP – a deadly disease requiring long, expensive treatment. Thanks to their dedication, many of these cats survived.
Â
At home, they lovingly care for six disabled cats who would not survive on the streets.
Â
With your support, Meral can continue this life-saving work. Every donation helps cover food, medical care, and shelter for these vulnerable animals. Together, we can give them a second chance.
