Anne Kedi and Portakal, Chain of Favour
In this photo, you can see Anne Kedi, the mother cat, alongside Portakal. Portakal, the orange-tabby tomcat, gets his name from the Turkish word “portakal,” which means “orange” in English.
Anne Kedi was found helpless on the streets with her kittens, lacking protection and safety, completely on her own. Basak took her in, along with her babies. Once the kittens grew up, Anne Kedi was spayed, allowing her to begin a safe and secure life.
Portakal faced a challenging journey as well. He was rescued from a shelter after being hit by a car, which resulted in a fractured pelvis. His recovery was long and difficult, involving surgery, physical therapy, and extensive medication. Without help, he likely would have died untreated in the shelter.
Today, Portakal can walk well again. He lives with Anne Kedi in Basak’s home. Both cats are now safe, cared for, and content—an inspiring story that illustrates what is possible when help arrives in time.
